Meet The Officers of the

Taurus Chapter

Leading with Brotherhood & Purpose

The Taurus Chapter is guided by a dedicated team of Freemasons who serve as officers within our chapter. Each plays a key role in organising rides, managing our affairs, and promoting the values we stand for – Brotherhood, Charity, and Freemasonry on two wheels.

President
Jim Turpin
Road Name: Chippy

Chippy is the founding President of the Taurus Chapter, which was officially chartered by the President’s Grand Board in early 2025.

A Master Mason of Dean Waterfield Lodge No. 8089 and a Companion in St Peter’s Chapter, Bromyard, Chippy brings years of Masonic experience to the role.

He rides a Harley-Davidson Sport Glide and Breakout, with over 25 years of riding under his belt.

*“The Widows Sons is an incredibly important part of Freemasonry for me. It’s an outward-facing arm of the craft that shows not only fellow Masons, but also the local community, who we are and how we support others.

It’s also about strengthening the bonds of friendship and support among both Masons and our associate Greenhorn members.

Being the first President of the Taurus Chapter is a great honour. I’m proud to bring something new to the Province of Herefordshire, and I feel truly privileged to have had the support to start this journey – and now to watch it evolve.”

Road Name: Golddust

Born and raised just outside of Bromyard, Golddust is a true Herefordshire lad. At 19, he left his hometown to join the forces, travelling the globe but always returning to his roots.

His passion for two wheels started early, from tearing around on a BMX to rebuilding a Kawasaki KE125 field bike he picked up for just a tenner. That first project sparked a lifelong love of motorcycles, leading to over 33 years of riding experience — mostly on sports bikes.

Golddust even took his passion to the track, clocking an impressive 1 minute 45 seconds around Donington Park. These days, he’s swapped the racetrack for the open road, cruising on his Harley-Davidson Sport Glide.

Known for his laid-back attitude and quick sense of humour, Golddust rarely takes life too seriously. His outlook is best summed up by a quote from Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) in XXX:

“Cars, boards, bikes. I like anything fast enough to do something stupid in.”

Whether he’s planning the next ride or just cracking jokes, Golddust is the kind of bloke you want by your side — on the road and in the Lodge.

Treasurer Kyle Toolan
Road Name: Check In

Some say he can balance the books blindfolded while adjusting his chain tension. Others claim he once calculated chapter expenses using the stars and a pocket knife. All we know is — he’s called Check In.

A former military man with a cool head and sharp eye, Kyle now guards the chapter's finances like a hawk. Calm, measured, and always three steps ahead, he ensures every penny is accounted for — even if he won’t tell us where he hides the petty cash.

He may not say much, and he definitely won’t let us post his photo, but when you hear the words “it’s been checked”, you know the numbers are bang on.

An original Taurus member, Check In keeps our chapter in line, on track, and out of debt — usually.

Road Captain
Steve Craig
Road Name: Craiger

A true Hereford lad, Craiger has lived in the area all his life and spent 34 years working at Pontrilas, earning a reputation for hard work and loyalty. Although he’s been around bikes since the age of ten, he came to road riding later in life — but he's never looked back.

Now a key part of the Taurus Chapter, Craiger brings heart, humour, and a steady throttle to every group ride. As Road Captain, he helps plan routes, keep rides safe, and make sure no Brother is ever left behind.

A former retained fireman of 12 years, Craiger is always looking out for others — usually with a grin on his face and a joke ready to go. Known as the class clown of the chapter, his energy and outlook lift everyone around him.

“I’m here for a good time, not a long time. Make the most of every day.”

Road Captain Joseph Dignam
Road Name: Pitstop

Joseph, known on the road as Pitstop, is one of the seven founding members of the Taurus Chapter. He’s been riding on and off for over 40 years — a passion sparked as a youngster when his cousin took him on ride-outs every weekend on the back of his 550.

At 16, Joseph bought his first bike and never looked back. He spent his evenings riding with mates, steadily working his way up through the engine sizes after passing his test at 17. Today, he rides a pair of Triumphs — a Bonneville 850 and a Speedmaster 1200 — and still gets the same buzz from two wheels as he did back then.

Joseph joined Craft Masonry on 27th April 2016 at St Peter’s Lodge No. 7369 in Bromyard. He served as Steward, later becoming Tyler, and was installed as Worshipful Master in 2024 — a role he proudly continues for a second year. He is also a member of Dean Leigh Masters Lodge No. 3687 in Hereford.

In 2022, he expanded his Masonic journey by joining Royal Arch Masonry at St Peter’s Chapter No. 7368, also in Bromyard. A passionate student of the Craft, Joseph subscribes to the Ars Quatuor Coronatorum (AQC) and has a deep interest in Masonic history, symbolism, and esoteric teachings.

Whether on the road or in Lodge, Pitstop is always ready to lead with passion, purpose, and a love for both traditions.

Charity Steward
Pete White
Road Name: Chalkie

Some say he once adjusted his carburettor using only a teaspoon and a packet of crisps…
Others claim his beard is actually a fully functioning air filter…
All we know is — he’s called Chalkie, and he’s probably already halfway to the pub.

Rumour has it Chalkie was born clutching a spanner and did his first wheelie before he could walk. His riding style has been described as “a cross between Evel Knievel and your Nan popping to the shops.”

He once navigated a roundabout the wrong way just to see if it would work (it did). His helmet is rumoured to have its own postcode, and his toolkit consists of three items: a hammer, a slightly bigger hammer, and a bacon sandwich.

When he’s not on two wheels, Chalkie can be found in his natural habitat: near the bar, swapping stories of rides that probably didn’t happen.
